For the contemporary family home Limehaven, nestled within expansive landscaped gardens with an inner courtyard and natural swimming pond, we supplied and installed the floorboards throughout the living areas, bedrooms, and hallway. The project features our Douglas fir floorboards, treated with lye and white-pigmented oil.
This finish softens the wood’s natural reddish tone, creating a light, gentle appearance. The result is an airy Douglas fir floor that captures the incoming light and reinforces the dialogue between the house and its surroundings.
The interior spaces are defined by a palette of natural materials that appeal both visually and to the touch. Wood plays a central role in the design, enhanced by unique colours and textures. Our Douglas fir appears not only on the floor: we also supplied the timber for the window reveals and stair treads, whose clean lines and refined grain contribute to the home’s harmonious overall aesthetic.
Alongside Douglas fir, elements of ash in the kitchen, poplar wall cladding, and exposed spruce structural components add warmth and character.
Large glazed areas, dark metal accents such as the delicate stair railing, and the expressive geometry of the building create a modern and open atmosphere. The bright appearance of our floorboards supports the architecture and gives the rooms a calm, airy foundation.
Limehaven is a home that conveys a sense of openness while offering comfort and retreat – and it shows how wood brings architectural visions to life.
