Responsibly Sourced: Native Wood Species from the Region
Where the Black Forest opens up, we have put down our roots – in Oberkirch, at the heart of one of Germany’s most forested regions. Our wood comes from sustainably managed forests within a radius of around 300 kilometres, primarily from the Black Forest, southern Germany and the neighbouring Vosges.
The forests in this region grow slowly in stable mixed-forest ecosystems, managed with future generations in mind. This creates a naturally durable resource, well suited to long-lasting wooden floors, wall cladding and furniture projects.
As a manufacturer with our own roundwood procurement, we select every log ourselves, using our expertise and a trained eye directly in the forest. This gives us a high level of control over both the quality and origin of our wood. Short transport distances not only help reduce the environmental impact, but also help preserve the wood’s natural structure and freshness.
PEFC-Certified
Our wood and the floorboards made from it are PEFC-certified. Our PEFC Chain of Custody certification provides traceability for certified wood throughout the supply chain and ensures that certified material is handled in accordance with PEFC requirements. For you, this means greater transparency when choosing materials. Whether for a private home or a public building, PEFC-certified wood products can help meet requirements for responsible sourcing and sustainable construction. They also support the use of wood from certified sources and contribute to greater transparency in the supply chain. Respect for the Whole – Every Tree Matters
A tree may spend 80 to 200 years growing in the forest before we select and process it. Shaped by its natural surroundings, each one carries a history spanning decades or even centuries. Growth characteristics, cracks, knots and grain patterns tell that story, making every log unique.
This awareness shapes the way we work: we treat wood as a valuable resource and make use of the entire log. From characterful floorboards with knots to narrow strips, every piece has its place and its value.
For us, true sustainability is not only about where the wood comes from, but also about making the most of every part of it. With respect for the material, attention to detail and a commitment to bringing out its natural beauty.
The durable building material
For us, “sustainable” primarily means making durable, high-quality products that last for generations. And although this is just a minor benefit, there is no waste when they are disposed of after decades of use, because wood is a purely natural product.
The perfect size
By using custom-made wood solutions in interiors, we avoid excess waste wood during the production on the basis of individual calculations. Our forestry engineers select the timber according to the order in the forest. The maximum yield is achieved during the processing, whether the finish is angled or rounded. For example, timber which cannot be used for floorboards goes into use as narrow, slim wall cladding or is processed in the form of solid skirting. Cross-cuts and wood chips are pressed into briquettes and used for the production of energy
