- Douglas fir
In this historic building renovation, a harmonious blend of old and new materials is achieved. Wood, as a natural and historical material, is used as a versatile design element in the open living area. The new plank floor made from local Douglas fir complement the house's original character and provide a natural foundation for the modern decor. The exposed timber framework creates an exciting contrast and establishes a harmony between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Beams and a historic column were expertly and artfully integrated during the wood floor installation.
The homeowners chose three-layer floorboards in mixed widths. The varying sizes of the floorboards create a lively and cohesive overall look. By selecting a wood floor with a higher number of filled knots and small cracks, a natural ambiance is achieved.
