The wood of the Douglas fir is excellent as a building material for terraces. This natural resource is easy to work with and, at the same time, robust and long-lasting. It does not excessively heat up in the summer and remains pleasantly warm underfoot on cooler days.
The source origins of the Douglas fir logs (Pseudotsuga menziesii) for our high-quality plank floors are located in Southern Germany. Our logs exclusively come from sustainably managed forests, where they have slowly grown for 80 to 120 years. After careful selection, we process particularly large trunks or butt logs that were felled during winter. The wood from these logs is of superior quality, featuring straight grain, tight growth rings, and minimal to no knots
Our terrace boards are manufactured using a rift or quarter sawn cut. There is a reason for this: Douglas fir is an exceptionally durable and weather-resistant wood sourced from our local forests. Its reddish hue and uniform surface texture create a cozy atmosphere in outdoor spaces. The rift cut gives the terrace boards a calm appearance, improves their dimensional stability, and with proper maintenance, they can last 15 years and longer.

Our planks have what is known as vertical growth rings (rift and semi-rift/quarter sawn). These vertical growth rings give the planks a calm, straight, and uniform surface texture, creating a cozy atmosphere in outdoor spaces. The terrace boards have small knots or are knot-free, with only a small percentage of sapwood present.
